Mike Hopkins founded DevSource Technology Solutions in 2001 and sold to Evergreen in September 2025, a decision that took serious deliberation. At 53, with an awesome team, a company that ran without him, and steady year-over-year growth, he wasn’t looking to sell. But once the opportunity surfaced, he started weighing what the future could hold for himself and, just as importantly, his employees and clients. Prompted by a peer who reminded him this was his largest asset and his one chance to get it right, Hopkins entertained a second offer from another private equity-backed firm and ended up with two premium deals on the table, which made the choice harder rather than easier. What ultimately won him over was the decentralized nature of the Evergreen deal, which made the most sense for his employees and clients and fit his plan to keep running the business. Evergreen was also open to discussing how he wanted the future to look, including his request to remain CEO for as long as he wants the role, with no resistance at all.
